Starring various relatable characters, each with their own signature dance moves, the design combines the latest decor trends with a serotonin-inducing interactive feature.
Hovia created the augmented reality wallpaper design by combining the rotoscope animation technique with a bespoke Instagram effect. Rotoscoping is the process of splitting video footage into individual frames, drawing over each of the individual frames before removing the video, leaving an animation that moves in a very true-to-life way.
At Hovia, we’re inspired by spaces that influence our mood[…] spaces that move us. I took this very literally when coming up with the concept for Boogie - I really liked the idea of a dancing wallpaper! The design celebrates the parallels of dancing and decorating as ways of expressing ourselves.

Augmented reality is a popular way for brands to connect meaningfully with customers, as they make the most of accessible tech to bring campaigns and packaging to life in surprising ways. Hovia is exploring how AR can open up playful and interactive opportunities for interiors, starting with wallpaper.
How does the effect work?
