Picasso's influence
50 years on from the death of Pablo Picasso on 8 April 1973, the artist and his works are still as popular as ever, and his abstract style continues to have an impact on modern design.
Picasso's art and imagery remain relevant, and they're an enduring influence on the design world. His minimalist line drawings and his abstract styles of faces are still particularly popular. This style is a prominent aesthetic in modern-day design and decor.

Why doves?
An anti-war painting by Pablo Picasso titled Guernica is renowned for the part it played in bringing the attention of the world to the ongoing events of the Spanish Civil War at the time.
Picasso also went on to create many artworks depicting doves over his lifetime, spreading a message of peace. His first dove piece was hand-picked as the poster image for the First International Peace Conference in Paris in 1949.

I stand for life against death; I stand for peace against war.
Pablo Picasso, speaking at the 1950 Peace Congress, Sheffield.
Doves are a symbol of peace. Hovia decided to focus their Picasso-inspired wall designs on doves, as their relevance holds strong today in the face of the invasion of Ukraine.
Through this collection, the designers not only celebrate Picasso's lasting influence on abstract design, but also his lasting impact on the world through the significance of his art.
